Shaun Storry became the first Winter Series champion last night, beating Ed Mercer 7-3 in the Grand Final played at Mr Pools.
Storry picked up the £550 first prize after a gruelling days pool, coming through against Chris Cass, Barry Rudlin & Glen Sibbons.
Mercer collected £270 beating Jeff Hynds, Kev Smith and Adrian Hogg on his journey to the final.

Mr Pools are pleased to announce a full programme of events for 2010. Click Here for the full list and entry forms.
Highlights include the re-instatement of the Essex Open, and the introduction of an Essex Closed event in April.
The Summer Series and Winter Series both return, along with the Fathers Day Pairs event.

The Mr Pools Winter Series starts this Saturday, with the first qualifier taking place at 2pm.
Each qualifier costs £20 to enter, tables are on freeplay. All matches throughout the event are best of 13 frames (first to 7). The event is played to World Rules.
Winners in the event will take a share of the minimum guaranteed prize fund of £2,000,

| Shooters league set for kick off |

The Shooters League for players aged under 16 is set to kick off on Wednesday 14th October, with 9 players signed up in advance. The league is played every Wednesday evening 7.30pm-10pm at Mr Pools, and players compete for prizes and vouchers worth £775.
Players can join the season at any stage, but those who join late miss out on the opportunity of picking up valuable early points. Entry costs just...

Jeff Hynds claimed the Mr Pools Summer Series title last night, emerging victorious from the field of qualifiers in the Grand Final.
Jeff only dropped 5 frames in three rounds as he stormed to collect the £140 first prize. Along the way he defeated James Hazelton, Shaun Storry and, in the final, Steve Dowdell.

The Grand Final of the Mr Pools Summer Series 2009 is this Friday (11th September). Eight players will compete for a share of the £350 prize fund:
Jeff Hynds, Nick Phillips, Steve Dowdell, Shaun Storry, James Hazelton, Matt Povey, Ashley Troath, Graham Bryan.
The competition starts at 8pm, tables are on freeplay.

The Shooters League presentation took place last night, and a good time was had by all. James King (pictured), collected his trophy, cash & vouchers, as well as the first Shooters Champion title.
The shooters players all got to give me a frame, along with a few parents while other family members looked on. Following the presentation, I performed some of my trick shots.

James King almost completed the Shooters League season in style, missing out on a final week victory to Charlie Thompson a close 5-4 final. James won't be too disappointed having dominated the event since the early stages, before being challenged by Thompson in the closing weeks.

 The final of the CWPL Dave Champ Summer Cup took place at the Royal Mortar on 19th August.
The Cherry Tree B defeated the cup holders, the Grapes, by 5 frames to 2.

Steve Dowdell gave himself two chances to reach the quarter-finals of the Summer Series Grand Final, by winning the first Friday event on top of his Monday victory. He dished out a 4-0 drubbing to Wayne Dowsett in the final match, Dowsett has the consolation of heading up the Friday Rankings. There was a small turnout for the first Summer Series event of 2009, with just 3 players showing up to take part in the opening event.
Steve Dowdell claimed the first place in the Monday Final, by winning a single match, against Dean Pye, 4-2. Pye had come through against last years champion, Darren Sadler by 4 frames to 1. The turnout means that just £3 was added to the prize fund, (but...

This Friday is the last opportunity for players to get involved in the CRASH grand final as the 12th and final qualifier takes place. To get an attempt at the crash game all you need to do is win a match in the knockout on Friday at Mr Pools. The competition starts at 8pm and costs just £3 to enter. The top ten players go through to the CRASH Grand Final next week.

Only two more chances to qualify for the CRASH final on Friday 5th June. The last competitions are tonight and next Friday. Although the scores at the top of the board will take some beating, there is still some leeway at the bottom end. Remember - it is the top ten players (not scores) who will make it to the final.

The Mr Pools Summer Series returns in June, and this time it is bigger..!! We will be playing two days a week, every Monday & Friday starting on 8th June.
Entry to each competition is only £3 and half the entry money is paid out to the winner of each event, who also qualifies for the Grand Final. .
Entry is limited to 16 players per event, there is no advanced entry players can only enter on...

| CRASH underway |

In the first event in the CRASH series, nine players lined up for a chance to win cash on the night as well as get a shot at setting the pace in the CRASH game.
Wayne Dowsett won the event, picking up 50 % of the entry money as his prize. Of the four players who had qualified for an attempt at CRASH, three were around at the end to have a go. Dowsett set a score of 80, Steve Dowdell 76, and Calum Ransom 97.
